First virtual wine tasting

First virtual wine tasting

With our wine partner, Weinladen Schmidt, and Vincent Eymann from Weingut Eymann in Gönnheim in the Palatinate.

The participants had ordered the three wines selected for the wine tasting in advance and came together virtually on June 17 in various constellations - alone, in pairs or in smaller groups.

Vincent Eymann, 28 years old, took over the winery from his parents 4 years ago. 13 grape varieties grow on a total area of 18 hectares. 150,000 bottles are produced annually, 40% of which are marketed abroad. The company has been using organic viticulture since 1982, which still occupies a niche of just 8% of the market. The main difference between organic and conventional viticulture lies in the underplanting of the soil and its cultivation as well as fertilization.

These wines were tasted and were all found to be particularly good and interesting by the participants. Eymann - Rosé "Saignée" (organic): Highly refined, rarely complex and profound rosé. The wine-like fusion of U- and E-music. Eymann - Toreye, Chardonnay, old vines (organic): The hand-picked grapes for this wine come from the oldest plots in Gönnheim. After spontaneous fermentation in barrels and long "sur lie" storage, the wine was bottled unfiltered. The nose has a beautiful blend of light pome and stone fruit (pear and mirabelle plum) as well as smoky notes. Complex on the palate with a slightly creamy texture and mineral depth. Eymann - Sonnenberg, Pinot Noir (organic): The Eymanns' flagship Pinot from the rightly named Sonnenberg owes its existence to a "Selection massale" of high-quality Côte d'Or vines. The wine was aged for 18 months in French, partly new barriques and tonneaux and bottled unfiltered. An impressive Pinot with plenty of finesse, a subtle minerality and cool spiciness.

If you now have the feeling that you have missed something, you can order the wines here >>> and watch the event including the presentation again. Have fun!
