Berlin schoolchildren run to Tokyo 8 times
Award ceremony for the campaign "From Berlin to Tokyo - Our school can do it on foot!"
As part of the second edition of the competition "From Berlin to Tokyo - Our school can do it on foot!", Berlin primary school pupils covered a total of almost 100,000 kilometers in a joint campaign. The award ceremony for the participating schools took place at the VBKI on June 22, 2021.
After last year's successful premiere, "From Berlin to Tokyo - Our school can do it on foot!" took place for the second time in 2021. The competition was initiated by the VBKI, the German Olympic Association (DOG) and the HR consultancy Hoffmann & Partner Executive Consulting. The task was to measure the daily steps taken by 200 pupils from each elementary school within the specified time and, if possible, walk the 12,500 kilometers between Berlin and the Olympic city of Tokyo. Each participating school received 200 pedometers with the DOG logo, which the children were allowed to keep.
The sports cannons equipped with pedometers had 12 competition days to achieve this feat. A total of 2,400 pupils from 12 Berlin elementary school took part in the campaign. The winning schools included Kastanienbaum Primary School, which covered 16,697 kilometers, far exceeding the fictitious goal of Tokyo.
A great achievement - congratulations!
