Let the games begin!
The Special Olympics World Games start in Berlin on Saturday
On June 17, the starting signal will be given for the largest multi-sport event in Germany since the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Berlin welcomes more than 7,000 athletes with intellectual and multiple disabilities from 26 sports, 190 delegations and 20,000 volunteers!
We at the VBKI support these games wholeheartedly - and with a team of volunteers made up of employees from the VBKI office (pictured). We are convinced of this celebration of inclusion and integration for at least two reasons. Firstly, the Special Olympics will further strengthen Berlin's reputation as a great sports metropolis. Secondly, they will make an important contribution to promoting the social recognition of people with intellectual disabilities.
In this respect, we invite you: Go to the Special Olympics, get your own impressions, support this great project "
