Face Your Fear
Art as confrontation: VBKI meets Noah Becker's bold visual worlds
Text: Katja Bartz
Even before the Gallery Weekend, members of the VBKI had the opportunity to attend the preview of Noah Becker's exhibition "Face Your Fear".
Viewing Noah Becker's first solo exhibition at Galerie Deschler was an impressive experience. The Munich-born artist, who grew up in Miami and now commutes between Berlin and Los Angeles, invited us into his world of large-format paintings and sculptures.
Noah's work addresses the pursuit of grounding and creating a judgment-free zone where he can freely explore and create art. He describes that he began painting to calm his thoughts, which often clashed in a chaotic mix of themes and textures. Maps of these inner processes emerge on his canvases - depictions of environments, encounters with people and the development of ideas informed by memories, smells and, above all, music.

The programmatic title of the exhibition, "FACE YOUR FEAR", is taken from one of his works and takes visitors on a visual journey through Becker's personal experiences and social observations. The exhibition offers a fascinating balance between painting, sculpture and installation and encourages introspection and critical commentary.
Overall, the gallery tour was an inspiring opportunity to experience Noah Becker's creative vision up close and to engage with the multi-layered themes of his art.
Thank you Mr. Deschler for the warm welcome to your gallery. And thank you very much, Noah, for your time, the open words and the insight into your world! We look forward to more events with you.
