DIALOGUE

Our Education and Science Committee

The most important concern of the committee is, on the one hand, to promote Berlin's competitiveness and scientific excellence through the exchange and cooperation of science with industry. On the other hand, we want to improve the quality of education in Berlin.

The Education and Science Committee brings together an interdisciplinary group of leading representatives from science, business, education, politics and society. At our meetings, we discuss important developments in the fields of education and science with key players. The aim is always to promote Berlin as a location for education and science with concrete projects. In doing so, we maintain a critical, constructive and cooperative style.

The committee's activities include Berliner Lesepaten and the Fokus Schülerleistungen project. With over 2,000 volunteers, Berliner Lesepaten is now Berlin's largest volunteer project in the education sector. Fokus Schülerleistungen works with companies to develop attitudes and procedures that support schools in processing information about pupil performance and learning success and, where possible, to achieve improvements in performance. the committee's most important concern is to promote the exchange and cooperation of research and development with industry.

"The Science and Education Committee is a roundtable of high-ranking representatives from science, education, politics and business. Current information is shared in an intimate setting and discussions are held on important reform needs - always linked to the question of how the VBKI can help in concrete terms."
