"Sport macht Schule" starts the season
We promote sport among schoolchildren
Once again this year, the VBKI and the other people behind "Sport macht Schule" are organizing 12 so-called sports action days at 10 Berlin schools so that children can try out sports and learn about team spirit, performance and defeat.
A climbing tower, a streetball station, a BMX skills course, a goal-kicking facility, an inline skate course, a street dance spectacle - when the school grounds are transformed into a "trial course" for a wide variety of sports, "Sport macht Schule" pays a visit. Together with the Landessportbund Berlin (LSB), the official health partner AOK Nordost, Berliner Sparkasse and other strong partners, the VBKI has been helping to awaken the joy of movement in Berlin schoolchildren with this project since 2013.
On August 18, 2021, patron Henning Harnisch, Vice President of Bundesliga basketball club Alba Berlin and former German national basketball player, opened the season at Charlottenburg's Schule am Schloss. The kick-off showed that the fun of exercise is not a matter of course for some children and that even popular sports are foreign to some. From the teachers' point of view, the deficits have increased again over the past year and a half. The guest of honor on this day was the Berlin top athlete and track and field athlete Caterina Granz, who, fresh from Tokyo, got the children excited about sports.
