Committee for Culture
The Culture Committee is committed to opening up funding opportunities from the private sector for interesting cultural projects, thereby giving them the chance to be more visible to the public. In a metropolis like Berlin with such a diverse cultural scene, smaller funding projects often run the risk of going under or being overlooked. The Cultural Committee is therefore particularly committed to smaller projects and tries to support them in various ways.
As part of our regular meetings, we invite representatives of initiatives and cultural projects to find out more about them and jointly develop funding opportunities. In addition to the regular committee meetings at the VBKI, we visit numerous individual projects on site and organize public events on our key topics, such as the annual Capital City Culture Talk.
On the initiative of the committee, the VBKI has been awarding the VBKI PREIS BERLINER GALERIEN annually since 2017 as part of Berlin Art Week. The prize is intended to promote young gallery owners.
"In Berlin, culture is a key location factor. The Culture Committee is aware of this responsibility, problems and potential. And it stands for creativity in Berlin."
