BMX, blind soccer, broom field hockey
Blumen-Grundschule: Our project "Sport macht Schule" starts the season
From blind soccer to goal kick speed measurement, from the volleyball court to the dance workshop, from streetball to the BMX track - when the school grounds are transformed into a trial course for different sports, "Sport macht Schule" is visiting. This time, we were guests at the Friedrichshain Blumen-Grundschule for the first of a total of 12 sports action days. After being welcomed by principal Karin Laurenz, LSB President Thomas Härtel and VBKI Managing Director Ute Weiland, the children stormed the test course on the school grounds - in addition to many other stations, they were able to find out who had the hardest shot thanks to the goal shooting speed system! Star guests included Henning Harnisch, the 1993 European basketball champion and patron of the project, as well as record-breaking national field hockey player Natascha Keller, who joined the children in the "broom field hockey" discipline.
"Team spirit, fairness, integration - sport conveys core values and promotes togetherness."

VBKI Managing Director Ute Weiland: "Team spirit, fairness, integration - sport conveys core values and promotes togetherness. Together with our partners, we have been using "Sport macht Schule" to inspire Berlin schoolchildren to enjoy exercise since 2013. It's always great to see how enthusiastic the children are about trying out the different sports."
Together with the Landessportbund Berlin (LSB), the Gesellschaft für Sport und Jugendsozialarbeit (GSJ), AOK Nordost, the German Olympic Society and ISTAF macht Schule, the VBKI has been helping to inspire Berlin schoolchildren to enjoy exercise with this non-profit project since 2013.
We are looking forward to the following 12 sports action days this year!
