New clubhouse: VBKI celebrates laying of foundation stone

A place to meet, get involved and shape the future is being created

A big day for the VBKI: On July 10, we celebrated the laying of the foundation stone for our future headquarters with around 250 guests - members and friends of the VBKI. At Bleibtreustraße 48a, just a few steps away from Savignyplatz S-Bahn station, a pioneering new building is being constructed on a 530 square meter site, which will serve as our new home from the beginning of 2027.

"With the new VBKI building, we are creating far more than just modern office space," said VBKI President Markus Voigt. "We are creating a place of openness, encounters and commitment - and thus a strong foundation for the future of our association. In the middle of the city, highly visible and embedded in the economic and social life of Berlin."

The building comprises around 2,100 square meters of floor space on seven floors. In addition to event space and the VBKI office, around 1,500 square meters will be available for rent. The centerpiece is a spacious public area on the first floor, which will serve as a forum for events, discussions and networking.

"Here in Bleibtreustraße, we are creating space for community and togetherness. For everything that defines us as VBKI: Economic competence. Social responsibility. And a real heart for Berlin."

The highlight of the event, which was conceived as a street party, was the ceremonial sinking of a time capsule into the foundations of the new building. Among other things, it contains personal wishes for the future from VBKI members, a set of coins minted in Berlin, a current issue of the Tagesspiegel and the construction plans for the VBKI building - symbolic testimonies of the present for future generations.

As the client, the VBKI attaches particular importance to sustainability: the building is being constructed in accordance with current ecological standards and sets standards for ecologically responsible construction through fossil-free heat generation, roof-mounted PV and CO2-reduced concrete - certified, future-proof and low-emission. The building achieves DGNB Platinum pre-certification (German Sustainable Building Council), a nationally recognized system for sustainable building quality.

"May Bleibtreustraße become an epicenter for innovation, responsibility and social creativity - a place where the future is not just thought about, but made."

"The new clubhouse not only stands for a strong address, but also for a clear stance in terms of sustainability," says Sylvia Becker-Daibermanaging partner of the client representative bdp real estate. "We are creating a modern, resource-saving building with high architectural quality - a project that is both functionally impressive and ecologically sustainable."

An experienced team is responsible for planning and execution: the architectural firm Axthelm Rolvien designed the building, while the general contractor is Glass Ingenieurbau Leipzig GmbH. The new building is scheduled to be occupied in 2027.
