Digital sovereignty becomes a question of survival
Whitepaper: VBKI calls for strategy for digital independence of SMEs
Text: Sebastian Thomas | Head of Communications and Marketing
In a position paper presented today, the VBKI has called for digital sovereignty to be seen as a joint task for the location. Only through coordinated interaction between business, politics and education can Germany secure its technological independence, security and innovative capacity in the long term.
The white paper developed by the "VBKI Digital" competence group entitled ""Digital sovereignty: From buzzword to strategic imperative for German SMEs - A practice-oriented guide for resilient IT structures" shows practical ways to achieve more digital independence in the SME sector on 50 pages and also calls on politicians to take action: digital independence must be declared a priority - with clear framework conditions, open standards and targeted promotion of sovereignty skills in SMEs.
The white paper presents a five-stage roadmap for implementing superior IT architectures: From strategic analysis, skills development and technology selection to step-by-step implementation and ongoing optimization. The focus is on hybrid and multi-cloud models based on open standards that allow companies to keep sensitive data in sovereign environments - while at the same time using innovative cloud services.
The aim of the VBKI is to provide impetus for a realistic, user-centered and pragmatic digital strategy - beyond technological dogmas. Only through coordinated interaction between business, politics and civil society can a digital ecosystem be created that ensures both innovative strength and sovereignty.
